Jointing through the night

With the kitchen cabinetry scheduled to be delivered on Thursday, we have been continuing to work on the taping and jointing when we get home from our full time desk jobs. There is a lot of plaster powder that is produced when sanding and so that we avoid dirtying our new cabinets so soon, we are attempting to finish the plaster beforehand.

To try to get things done quickly and access the ceiling with ease, we even looked at buying some plasterers stilts. Asking the specialty plasterer stores, we found out that these are no longer sold in NSW due to them being too much of injury risk. We have had to resort to saw horses and a plank to get Anthony across the room and back, without the need to go up and down a ladder constantly.

With the base coat on the ceiling joints, screw holes and butt joints, we’re now up to the stage of sanding and will be adding the final top coat shortly. It’s been a tricky task as we have been working with an older base coat and it has been going hard very quickly. We’ve found that freshly opened base coat doesn’t go off as quick, go figure!

Only a few more days till we start to see the cabinets in. We have a long weekend this weekend and will continue to plaster and possibly start painting by the end of it.
