The weekend is here and with the sudden heat waves we’ve been slowly working away at jointing the walls. It took us a full day to get the 2 base coats on and get tape onto the ceiling joints. With each coat we have to sand, so again more dust, this time of the white variety…when will it end?!? I suppose that’s another reason why it’s taken us a lot longer than we hoped because we spent some of that time wiping down the new floors, not to mention having to take care every time we moved the saw horse around. It isn’t ideal for us to have had our floors in at this stage, but we also considered that we needed to semi waterproof our kitchen area. Jointing the walls is a messy job and if we were to ever do this again, I’d definitely lay the floors right at the end.
In the lead up to the long weekend, it will be a busy week. We have our rangehood being delivered by appliances online on Monday. Thursday Nobby’s Kitchen delivers the cabinetry and will begin installing on the Friday and finish off on Tuesday. Anthony has finally been able to take some days off and whilst the kitchen guys do their thing, he will be aiming at getting the patio clear of our things. On Saturday the cabinet maker will do his final measure and head back to the factory to cut the pieces of melamine for our custom cabinets. The stone for our benchtop will be installed mid October along with our appliances and the sink by the plumber. We have a lot to do but at the same time I feel like we are working really slowly. We got a glimpse of what we will be moving into when the floors were just polished, but now it feels like we have messed it up only to move forward again.
